Combination Disc / Belt Sander

Before Turning On The Sander
1. Always wear safety glasses when operating any machinery.
2. Check disc / belt for tears, breaks, and to make sure the sandpaper
isn’t worn out or full of pitch. Check disc for to make sure
it is securely adhered to metal disc.
3. Do not use sander for gross shaping. Do that on band saw or lathe.
Use sander for surface finishing only.
Operating Combination Sander
1. Only sand stock that is large enough to be held securely with both
hands.
2. When turning on sander, check belt for alignment with drive wheels.
Belt should run parallel to sides of the sander, if not, use the alignment
knobs on the side of the belt sander to bring it back in line. If
you can’t align the belt or have questions contact your instructor
or studio technician.
3. Keep fingers and hands away from sandpaper at all times.
4. When sanding disc sander only sand on the side of the disc that
is rotating into the table. Usually the left side of the disc.
5. When sanding on the belt sander sand along flat area of belt for
sanding along flat surfaces. Use the round end of the belt for sanding
curves.
6. Only sand stock large enough to be safely held in hands. If stock
is too small or thin, it will cause the fingers to be dangerously
close to the abrasive belt.
7. Clean belt with rubber feed when done sanding.
7.1. To clean disc
7.1.1. Hold rubber feed on table.
7.1.2. Press it lightly into the disc near the center of the disc
while it is spinning.
7.1.3. Slowly move it out to the outer edge of the disk.
7.1.4. Once clean, turn off sander.
7.2. To clean the belt
7.2.1. Hold the rubber feed lengthwise.
7.2.2. Press rubber feed gently into belt with the belt running.
7.2.3. Move feed side to side.
