Drill Press

Before Turning On The Machine
1. Always wear safety glasses when operating any machinery.
2. Select proper drill bit. Check bit for damage and to make sure
it is sharp.
3. Check table and press head adjustment.
4. Secure work with c-clamp or vice.
5. Set depth of cut with depth gage. Make sure that bit won’t
break through work and damage vice or table.
6. Make sure bit is tightened securely in the chuck using the chuck
key. Remove chuck key and place it in designated place.
Operating The Drill Press
1. Never touch the chuck while it is rotating, keep long hair, clothing
hair tied back, away from rotation.
2. Keep loose items clear of the worktable and chuck.
3. Turn on drill and lower rotating bit slowly into stock.
4. While drilling, ease up on drill pressure just before the bit breaks
through stock. After hole is drilled, while still rotating, back drill
out of hole and turn off drill immediately.
5. If a bit lodges in a work piece and begins to rotate the work piece
(clamp the item so this does not happen.) First back away from the
machine. Second perform an emergency stop by turning off the dust
collection system. Finally, once the work piece has come to a complete
stop. Remove the bit from the chuck before attempting to remove it
from the work piece.
6. When drilling remember to use slower speeds for larger holes and
higher speeds for smaller ones.
7. Keep work area clean. Use a brush to remove chips and shavings
from table.
