Student Research
Experience
This NSF-REU is a 10-week program in which
students will design, carry out, and present a research study on the effects of
fatigue on performance in military, law-enforcement, and medical personnel. All students accepted to participate will
receive the following:
- $3500 stipend for the 10 weeks (standard
taxation applies, and 8.5% benefits)
- $500 in research funds, to pay for equipment
and research expenses
- Free housing at the
Weber State
University Village Dormitories
- Stipend to pay for books associated with REU
- Social events and outings with other students
and faculty
- Some students may receive stipends to travel to
the National Conference for Undergraduate Research (NCUR) to present the
results of their research (up to $1200 for selected students)
Students participating will be expected to do the
following:
- Provide transportation to Ogden, UT for the REU
- Provide their own transportation to their
research venue (mass transit available, but having your own car is STRONGLY recommended)
- Work with mentors to design, carry out, and
present their research project
- Devote 40 hours per week (minimum) to the research
experience
- Live on campus in the University Village
Dormitories
- Present the results of their research at local,
regional, national, or international conferences
- Students cannot take classes or work outside
of the REU during the REU period.
**You must be a US citizen or a permanent resident
to participate. In addition, you cannot be planning to graduate prior to
Spring Semester/Quarter 2010 (you must be classified as a Freshman, Junior or Sophomore when you apply).
