Child Care Subsidy

The Payment-to-Parent Assisted Child Care Program provides funding for child care to parents who are employed or employed and attending school or training and who meet eligibility requirements. The amount of child care subsidy is determined based on several factors and may not cover the total cost of child care; parents are responsible to pay child care providers for all costs incurred.
To find out if you qualify check with your local Employment Center.

Crisis Nurseries

There are Family Support Centers around the area with Crisis Nurseries. You will need to pre-register with them. You can use the Crisis Nursery when you have job interviews, doctor appointments or if you really need some timeout. Here are their numbers:

Child Care Licensing

Contact the Bureau of Child Care Licensing if you would like to file a complaint or find out if a child care provider has had any substantiated complaints. Their local number is 801-525-1400 or you can visit their website: http://health.utah.gov/licensing/

State Resources

Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
CHIP is a state health insurance plan for children. Many working Utah families who don't have health insurance qualify for CHIP. Qualifications are based upon income and family size.


Children's Literature Association of Utah
The organization's purposes are: to encourage the reading, study, and writing of children's literature; to provide a forum for all points of view and levels of experience in children's books; and to gather and share information about children's literature.

Local Resources

Club Heights Family Resource Center
They have many resources available to parents including a toy & book lending library, computer lab, free parenting classes and many many brochures and booklets on children's issues.

PIRC Parent Information & Resource Center
Located in Davis County, their mission is to assist parents in taking a proactive approach to developing a whole, healthy family by making educational materials, training, support, information, and other resources readily accessible to all families in Davis County. They house a parent & family lending library, they have access to technology & information and offer workshops and forums for parents, educators & the community.

Weber-Morgan Early Intervention
Weber Early Intervention services are provided to families when a child is identified as having a delay in one or more of the following areas: Cognitive development, Motor development, Speech/Language development, Social development, Self-help Skills, Vision, and Hearing.

National Resources

Healthy Kids, Healthy Care
This website is for parents of children who attend child care programs. They have answers to several questions many parents have about their child's child care environment.

The American Academy of Pediatrics
Excellent source for information on children's health. They keep up-to-date on current world issues and how that impacts our children.

CDC
Center for Disease Control and Prevention. They no longer publish the ABC's of Safe & Healthy Child Care, but they still have great information on disease control on their web site.

Local Fun Spots

Antelope Island
Kids enjoy riding in the car over the water and watching the buffalo. The beach is great in the summertime, but watch out for the brine flies!

Ogden Eccles Dinosaur Park
Kids love dinosaurs! They are open year round and feature more than 100 realistic sculptures, some even talk.

Ogden Nature Center
"They have classes, workshops and happenings for everyone!"

The Treehouse Museum
Come step into a story! 

Eccles Community Art Center
They have several workshops for children and adults to enjoy.

Hill Aerospace Museum
Currently the Museum exhibits over 80 military aircraft, missiles, and aerospace vehicles on the grounds and inside the Major General Rex A. Hadley Gallery and the Lindquist-Stewart Fighter Gallery. The museum collection also includes a wide variety of ordnance, an assortment of aerospace ground equipment, military vehicles, uniforms, and thousands of other historical artifacts.

State Fun Spots

Children's Museum of Utah
Children of all ages and ethnicity love the children's museum. Visit them to help expand your view of the world! You can check out their calendar online.

Hogle Zoo
Learning at the Zoo is fun! Utah's Hogle Zoo's education department provides personal connections with the natural world by offering entertaining and educational opportunities for toddlers through adults.

Tracy Aviary
Be sure to look into their activities, upcoming events and camps.

Thanksgiving Point
A bit of a drive from our area, but worth the trip especially if your children love dinosaurs and petting zoos. You may also enjoy their farmer's market in the summer.

Planetarium
The Clark Planetarium’s mission is to create and present enlightening experiences that inspire wonder in learning about space and science.
