Students completing the English as a Second Language
Program should be able to:
- Listen to classroom lectures, take notes
and comprehend material presented in a university academic classroom to
successfully past general education courses.
- Read and comprehend English college
textbooks to successfully pass general education courses.
- Write at a level that is appropriate to
pass general education courses.
- Ask and answer questions in classroom
settings in academic context.
- Appropriately participate and express
themselves in classroom discussion in academic context.
- Understand the dynamics of the American
University classroom and interaction with American professors and
instructors.
- Show an understanding of some of the
aspects of American culture and society necessary for academic and
social success.
- Demonstrate an understanding of study
habits, standards, and ethics needed for success at an American
University.
