Following the recommendations of the October 2004 DOVA Program Review Team Report:

  1. The one-year renewable full-time faculty position was upgraded to Assistant Professor, and a new faculty member in the Photography Program is now on tenure-track.
  2. New equipment has been obtained for expanding the DOVA Digital Image Base, more faculty are using the image base and with a new staff member in the existing position, a plan for maintaining and expanding the base will be devised and implemented in the 06-07 academic year.
  3. As suggested by the review team, a new 3ch course - Art 1040, Orientation to Visual Studies has been put in place in the DOVA foundations curriculum. This class will be offered for the first time in Fall 2006.
  4. An extensive re-organization of the BFA and General Art degrees was accomplished during the 05-06 academic year and will be implemented starting in the 06-07 academic year. As advised by the review team, these program changes will provide optimum SCH numbers without increased costs.
  5. The new Gallery Director was hired with a mind to vastly improve Community Outreach activities and strategies. These efforts will begin Fall 06 with the Latin American Graphics exhibition, along with the attendant activities.
  6. The new curriculum changes starting in Fall 06 will include specialized career preparation advising - as the team suggested. This effort will occur in the new Orientation to Visual Culture course, the BFA Seminar course, the new BFA Thesis course and in advanced courses in specific programs such as the revised Senior Portfolio course being offered in the Photography Program.
  7. With the upgraded faculty position the new tenure-track faculty member was hired with a mind to integrating more current technology into the Photography Program. With a photo-digital imaging expert now in place there will be some major curriculum changes in the Photography Program during the next couple years.
