SST - Technical SalesResults of Assessment 2003-2004 (submitted 11/28/05) We continued to assess the student learning outcomes that we felt demonstrated the knowledge and capabilities of our graduates to create excellent customer service, sales presentations, sales negotiations, customer profiling, team building and sales ethics. The graduate survey indicated that our 2004-05 graduates were especially pleased with the skill sets in personality profiling, presentations, customer service and negotiation. This has been their consistent response over the last several years. However, in this survey period the graduates also indicated that they were pleased with the team skills that they have received and their ability to work in groups. In addition, the skill of “Spin Selling” which is taught in our SST 1602 class was mentioned as an important skill set. This adds to their ability to do professional and successful sales presentations. Refining our ability to test their writing skills is an on-going goal of all of our classes. The faculty continued to require assignments that tested their written communication skills. Descriptive feedback from students and graduates indicated that we need to continue to examine our course offerings in the support area and consider making some course changes. We are reorganizing our advisory committee to better reflect the needs of industry and anticipate that this year, they will be able to give us input into our course content and its value to them as industry representatives. Our graduate survey also showed overwhelming satisfaction with the online offerings in the department. The faculty plan to continue to update and polish the online course offerings.
