SST - Technical SalesResults of Assessment 2000-2001 submitted 09/17/01 During the school year, 2000-01, we completed each of the steps to begin the process of assessment (mission statement, student learning outcomes, curriculum grid, assessment plan). In addition, we did administer one assessment tool at the end of the school year. We created a survey to assess the employment picture of our recent graduates and also to ascertain what students feel are the most important skills received through the technical sales program. This survey attempted to measure the following student outcomes: (1) Achieve satisfactory employment in a sales-related field. Note, we are in the process of changing this learning outcome to more clearly reflect student learning. It will now be identified as obtaining the skills necessary to achieve satisfactory employment in a sales-related field. We will focus on the skills of interviewing, resume writing, follow-up letter writing and "power" lunches as a part of obtaining employment. (2) Demonstrate knowledge and capabilities to create excellent customer service, sales presentations, sales negotiations, customer profiling, team building and sales ethics. The raw data can be obtained by contacting the department (see below "Contact Person"). The 2000-2001 graduating student survey included questions on employment status, job titles, annual salary, the most significant skills within the major acquired by graduates, graduate satisfaction with the major education, and suggestions for improving the education. This survey was administered to students when they applied for graduation. The results of the survey and a general discussion about assessment took place during the first department meeting of the school year. During the 2001-2002 year, we Mission Statement / Student Learning Outcomes / Curriculum Grid / Assessment Plan / Contact Person
