The description of the course is as follows: Phil 4810 will provide students with a comprehensive review of the various areas of philosophy, and an in-depth study of a single philosopher with the goal of producing a substantial thesis paper. The purpose of this course is to be able to document that students with a philosophy minor possess competence in the field. They will do this in two ways:
Students who are deficient in an area of the exam will be asked to do supplemental work in that area. For the research component, the student will work with the most appropriate faculty member. The completed exam, any supplemental work and the paper will be kept on file as evidence of student competence.
