Theatre Arts

Results of Assessment

2000-2001 (submitted 9/04/01)

The Theatre Arts outcomes assessment results for 2000-2001 showed the following:

1.    Students are not completely aware of the programs and the processes of the department. There is a need for a Theatre Student Handbook to address the sum total of the department from a student’s perspective. This task is now in the last phase of completion and the handbook will be available in the fall.

2.     Students feel very positive about the learning environment in the area.

3.     Students are satisfied with the opportunities for performance.

4.    The student level continues to grow, as evidenced by the quality of performances and the opportunities the students receive to perform in other venues.

5.     There is concern by Theatre Education about the role of the College of Education in preparing students to be successful theatre teachers. Students feel that their needs are not addressed specifically in this preparation. This concern is going to be addressed by the new Director of Theatre Education.

6.     There is a need for a fifth year program for students.
