Results of Assessment
2004-2005 (submitted
12/15/05)
The Music Area outcomes assessment results for 2004-2005
showed the following:
- A major reevaluation of the area will take place during
the 2006-2007 school year.
- Further music technology course additions are not
practical at this time due to staff shortages.
- The Senior Project option as revised by the faculty
committee is better organized and has clear requirements and outcomes.
- The area Student Handbook was updated as it is each
year.
General Concerns
- It is becoming more apparent that the area needs to
have at least one more faculty member to help absorb the teaching load.
Faculty members are all working on overload.
- Recruiting in the schools continues to be a problem.
Faculty loads preclude taking time out to travel to schools.
- A search for a replacement for Paul Joines resulted in
the hiring of Dr. Viktor Uzur as Asst. Professor of Cello and Music Theory.
- The Opera Workshop program is not going to grow until a
regular budget is allocated to it, similar to the budgets under which the
other performing ensembles operate.
Accreditation
Final Approval from NASM was not sought due to lack of
time related to department chair overload. It will be done in the 2005-2006
school year.
