  1. When/how was these data discussed among your faculty?

    1. Weekly discussions of student progress takes place in faculty meetings.

    2. General faculty meetings are held at the beginning and end of each academic year and overall evaluations findings are disseminated to all faculty.

    3. The need for course changes is discussed both in Curriculum Committee and in Faculty meetings. These findings are also taken to Administrative Council for support and information.

    4. Information is exchanged between Administration and Faculty through Administrative Council which includes Level Managers and faculty meetings. Outreach faculty is included through phone conferencing as well as by them traveling to the main campus.  This includes NCLEX test results.

    5. Administration as well as faculty members meet with clinical agencies throughout the community to evaluate student clinical placement and nursing needs of the community.

  2. What changes are anticipated as a result of these discussions?

    1. Course changes and syllabi changes are affected through these discussions.

    2. A new BSN course in Gerontology will begin in the fall.

    3. Plans are underway to construct an Oncology course as a BSN elective course in response to community input.

    4. New guidelines are in place for student clinical placements.

    5. New comprehensive exams will be used for students completing their PN and AD nursing programs.  These exams will be used to evaluate areas of learning that need to be strengthened in the program and hopefully, will indicate a student's readiness to pass their NCLEX exams.

  3. What student learning outcomes will your department assess in 2000-01?

All program outcomes are assessed each year. We use the following methods:

  1. Exit interviews

  2. Semester reports

  3. NCLEX exam reports

  4. Evaluations of clinical experiences at midterm and end of semester.

  5. Student's grades on coursework, exams, and evaluation of performance in clinical areas.
