Results of Assessment

2006-2007 (submitted 02/27/08)

The Military Science Department currently conducts the following as a result of directives and assessments of previous processes/results:

1. All Juniors are evaluated in various capacities in 2 week "floors" as part of the Leadership Development Program, or LDP. During these assessment "floors", students are evaluated by both Military Cadre and Seniors, who hold leadership positions. Upon the completion of the evaluation period, each student receives in-depth counseling and feedback regarding their strengths, weaknesses and areas needing improvement.

2. In late Spring Semester, each Junior prepares for and sits before a "Board of Officers/Non-Commissioned Officers" where they are presented a series of questions designed to determine the level of learning which has occurred throughout that year. Those board results are utilized in establishing the Order of Merit list, a significant factor in determining those eligible and/or deserving of special Army training opportunities and for the Army Accessions Process.

3. A formal External Assessment is conducted on all "Contracted" students between their junior and senior year. The students receive a rigorous and thorough performance assessment for 32 consecutive days on their ability to perform and implement the subjects taught in the 1000, 2000 and 3000 level military science courses.
