Results of Assessment

2001-2002 (submitted 09/16/02)

Outcomes Data Results 2002-2003
Graduates will be placed in positions befitting their education and with competitive salaries. Annual employment survey of IS&T graduates for 2002 indicates salaries held up fairly well despite a weak job market. Department was generally pleased with the result, though a stronger result was desired. Department will continue to monitor placement data.
Majors will understand traditional business fields and be able to apply information technologies to those fields. Information Systems and Technologies majors placed in 27th percentile on ETS examination which test traditional fields of business. Department was not pleased with this result. Department will continue to monitor ETS data.
Students should complete their degree plan in a timely and efficient manner. IS&T majors had completed over 170 semester hours at the time of graduation. Department now requires all majors to be advised annually and majors are required to complete graduation evaluation with Department Chair prior to registration for capstone courses. Department will continue to monitor the advisement process and students' program of study.
Students will attain depth of understanding in programming language. Feedback from Advisory Council indicates employers value depth. Department presently requires majors to complete program of study in two programming languages. This requirement is being reviewed. Department may process curriculum change to require only one programming to attain additional depth in the required language.
