Incorporation of case-based strategies into dental hygiene science course work

Course Evaluations Disseminated to faculty (full time contracted, adjunct didactic and clinical adjunct faculty) Calibration workshops take place one day each semester for all clinical adjunct and full-time faculty combined.  Calibration workshops prior to the beginning of the of the school year will occur in smaller groups at WSU and VA clinic sites.
Quality Assurance Program; Clinical Dental Hygiene Chart Audits Implemented program in Fall 2001; results disseminated at faculty meetings and shared with Advisory Board Calibration workshops will include a component of quality assurance that will reinforce goals of chart audit program; a log of chart audits is maintained, reviewed and used to identify areas for improvement
Patient Satisfaction Surveys; Clinical Dental Hygiene Patient Survey Implemented program in Fall 2001; patients surveyed  regarding their clinic experience; results disseminated at faculty meetings and shared with Advisory Board Incorporated suggestions from patients; car parking procedures, signs for building, direct feedback for faculty, staff and/or student behaviors, etc.

Major goals for the future:

1.  Further development of DH baccalaureate courses including the on-line delivery of the courses.

2.  Continue with activities that promote the DH baccalaureate degree as a degree-completion option for WSU students, as well as other Dental Hygiene program graduates.

3.  Continued calibration of all full-time and part-time, adjunct clinical faculty.

4.  Enhanced education and training of adjunct clinical and didactic faculty.

5.  Continued use of outcomes assessment data in curriculum revisions and other planning efforts.

6.  Encourage and support continuing degree advancement for program faculty.
