Results of Assessment

2000-2001 (submitted 12/06/01)

1.  The following data were collected on the CLS/CLT student Majors in 2000-01:

  • Written examinations scores in each course
  • National Board Examination Overall Results for year 2000-2001:
    • CLT/MLT 23 students with 96% pass rate
    • CLS/MT 11 students with 97% pass rate
  • Clinical evaluations during the Summer and Fall Semester 2001
  • Laboratory Competency Evaluations for Online Students
  • Laboratory evaluations, practical exams, and procedure outcomes
  • Exit Survey
  • Modified Employer Survey
  • Graduate Survey
  • Work Keys Results for the on Campus CLT Students

2.  Discussion of Data:

The data collected were discussed during some of the CLS faculty weekly meetings. The results will also be discussed in the CLS Advisory Council annual meeting during Spring Semester.

3.  Changes anticipated as a result of the discussions:

The program national pass rate is significantly higher than the national average for both CLT and CLS programs. We hope to continue with this long-standing tradition.

The employment placement rate of 100% has been very favorable for our graduates and beneficial to our health care community. The employer survey was modified to evaluate the needs of rapidly changing health care environment. Since Clinical Laboratory Sciences profession is experiencing a great shortage at the present time and it has been estimated that this shortage will continue with a higher rate into the next five years, assessing the employers becomes more critical. Consequently, employer survey was modified yet again and will be carried out annually to review the graduate outcomes and market needs.

4.  Students outcomes to be assessed in 2002:

All program student learning outcomes will be assessed in FY 2002, using the following strategies:

  • Written examinations scores in each course
  • National Board Examination Results (Quarterly)
  • Clinical evaluations during the Summer Semester 2002
  • Laboratory evaluations, practical exams/laboratory competencies, and procedure outcomes for each course for both on campus and online
  • Exit Survey prior to graduation
  • Six-month Post Graduate Survey
  • Employer Survey
  • Work Keys for the CLT students, possibly to include the CLT Online Students
