Articulation of Outcome Statements and Curriculum

Instructor Outcomes:

  1. Through FYE, built a learning community by associating with the WSU campus community as a whole.
  2. Increased understanding of the issues faced by first year students as they make a transition to college, as well as access to tools to assist students in this transition.
  3. Developed teaching skills through instructor training workshops, cluster meetings and assistance of the EDUC 1105 peer mentor.
  4. Increased access to information regarding what is available to students on campus.

Mentor Outcomes:

  1. Increased leadership skills such as team building and problem solving.
  2. Developed interpersonal interaction skills through facilitating small group discussions and large group presentations; identifying solutions to student issues; and taking initiative with students, staff, and faculty.
  3. Learned to a further extent the value of setting and achieving academic goals, the benefits of teamwork in an academic setting, and the importance of campus involvement in being a successful student.
  4. Improved interview skills such as developing a portfolio and learning interview etiquette through the EDUC 3170 course.

Student Outcomes:

  1. Mastered academic skills, such as note taking, textbook reading, test taking, writing, and time management.
  2. Demonstrated a knowledge and use of campus resources.
  3. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills with a variety of people.
  4. Developed a sense of belonging to the WSU community through the connections with other students, instructors, mentors and WSU employees.
